Steel City began reinventing woodworking machinery when it introduced granite table tops to several of its tablesaws. The market’s enthusiastic reaction to the use of granite has prompted Steel City to add granite to other tools, including the addition of a granite lower wheel to their 14-inch Deluxe Bandsaw that already boasted a granite table top (model 50100G).
The newly designed solid granite lower wheel is well balanced and machined. The heavy mass of the lower granite wheel gives it more inertia when spinning, and the granite absorbs the vibrations from the motor, belt and shaft. Like all Steel City bandsaws, the 14-inch Granite Bandsaw features Eccentric-Adjustable Ball Bearing Guides to aid in quick and accurate set-ups when changing blade sizes. The Quick Release Blade Tension Lever is another benefit that allows for fast and repetitive tensioning of the blade, giving you less blade fatigue for longer blade life.
