K-Tec’s new ADT Series of scrapers

K-Tec Earthmovers continues to bring innovation to the earthmoving industry with its new series of articulated dump truck (ADT) compatible scrapers. For contractors who prefer an ADT tractor over an agricultural (AG) tractor for their scraper’s motor unit, these new ADT models offer many advantages, including: higher speeds than AG tractors; a smoother ride; faster hydraulics; tighter turning radius; perfect weight balance on all three pulling axles; much better flotation than motor scrapers; accommodation of lesser skilled operators; and the power unit and scraper are the same width. “With the shortage of AG tractors to pull our scrapers” says President Ken Rempel, “K-Tec needed to create a solution to help contractors. With the ADT concept, we are using a power unit that most contractors already have”. K-Tec’s exclusive design allows a contractor to switch a six-wheel drive ADT truck between material hauler or scraper power unit in a matter of hours, depending on the ADT model. This increased versatility enables contractors to reduce overhead costs by having fewer power units to finance, maintain, and service. It also makes for easier and quicker mobilization and significant fuel savings.

The founder of Canadian-based K-Tec, Ken Rempel, brought his years of experience and insights as a construction earthmover to improve pull-scrapers. He and his team have developed machines requiring only two one-minute grease points. Additionally, the scrapers are manufactured using high tensile Hardox and Weldox steel. These two developments have produced industry leading durability. K-Tec has also created unique hitching systems that distribute load weight to take greatest advantage of the pulling unit’s power while minimizing stress on the hitching tongue. “My years spent behind the wheel as a dirt mover allowed me to identify ways to make earthmovers tougher, faster, and more cost effective,” says Rempel. “We’ve developed earthmovers that will make you more money and return more profit than any other option available today.” K-Tec’s extensive product line includes: the 1453, the largest single pan pull-scraper on the market today, the company reports, boasting a 53-cubic-yard heaped capacity; the 1233 ADT; and the 1243 ADT. The ADT models are designed for self-loading with a six-wheel drive ADT truck and have driving speeds that exceed 30 mph.
