For 2008, seven different Tacoma models feature a range of cab sizes and power trains. These trucks feature a range of option packages and customization features, as well as a choice of two engines. The Tacoma 4x2 Access Cab features a powerful but efficient 2.7-litre 16-valve four-cylinder engine that produces up to 159 hp at 5,200 RPM, and up to 180 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,800 RPM.
The Tacoma 4x2 X-Runner, and all Tacoma 4x4 models, feature Toyota’s rugged 4.0-litre 24-valve six-cylinder engine that produces up to 236 hp at 5,200 RPM and up to 266 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 RPM.
Both engines are equipped with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing with intelligence, sequential multiport electronic fuel injection, a heavy duty battery, starter, alternator and heater, and a stainless steel exhaust system.
