An all-new chassis and new power options are highlights of the 2008 Ford Super Duty pickup line. From the F-250 pickup, F-350 pickup, F-450 pickup, right up to the F-450 and F-550 chassis cab, each chassis is custom-tailored. Every Super Duty frame is E-coated for improved corrosion protection. The new, fully boxed front section has been optimized to meet standards for vehicle compatibility without the need for an added blocker beam. The unique front frame horn design lowers the frame by seven inches. Reinforcements have been added to several areas for increased cargo and towing capacity. Massive 27 mm enclosed tow hooks are designed to support one-and-a-half times the trucks gross vehicle weight - up to 33,000 pounds. All Super Duty pickups, including the F-450 pickup, feature a new rear leaf-spring suspension design that provides the same high levels of capability with increased levels of refinement. The eight-inch longer springs attach farther forward on the frame and contribute to the confident feel of the vehicle. A more powerful 6.4-litre Power Stroke Diesel joins a powertrain lineup that already includes the 362-hp, 6.8-litre V-10 Triton. The 6.4-litre Power Stroke Diesel delivers 350 hp at 3,000 rpm and 650 lb.-ft. of torque (on F-250 and F-350) starting at 2,000 rpm and utilizes Ford Clean Diesel Technology, a series of special components that deliver clean, quiet, performance.
