Rubber speed cushions act as effective traffic calming solutions
Traffic Logix rubber speed cushions were designed to meet a growing concern in the field of traffic calming. While more traditional devices such as speed humps are effective in slowing cars, they also have a detrimental effect on the response time of emergency vehicles. Speed cushions are designed so that cars must slow down in order to drive over them but emergency vehicles are not affected.

The design of speed cushions is a series of small speed humps. They are installed across the width of the road in groups of two or three. The width of the cushions is such that a car can not pass without having at least one wheel on the cushion. Since emergency vehicles have a wider wheelbase, they can straddle the cushions as they drive over them. The Traffic Logix cushions are constructed of recycled rubber tires. They a prefabricated to meet ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) standards and do not shift or deform with time. The rubber cushions are long lasting and can be removed and reinstalled when necessary. They are comprised of small rubber units that interlock and are bolted down to the road surface. They are easy to install.
