Astec Industries is sharing a variety of new and recent releases at World of Asphalt/AGG1 2024, including its RX-405 cold planer - and the premiere of its premium camera system for improved operator visibility.

The RX-405 is fitted with a mid-mount variable cutter system, which adds versatility thanks to cut widths from 2 to 5 feet at a maximum cut depth of 14 inches. Innovative design features include a secondary conveyor that can swing 60 degrees on each side, providing a full conveyor swing of 120 degrees. This couples with a 750-gallon water tank to ensure limited disruption and high efficiency.

Controls on the RX-405 have been updated with an eye for ergonomics and appearance, ensuring they are easy to operate. In addition, the new operator environmental awareness system will be debuted at the show. Set to be available on the RX-405 and all milling machines starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, the system provides a real-time view of the machine from above, allowing operators to spot obstructions for safer operation and higher productivity.

Other machines on display at the Astec booth include the SB-3000 Shuttle Buggy material transfer vehicle, Roadtec F series highway class pavers, and the Carlson CP130 paver. Another new feature, this one for the RP-195 paver, is SmartEdge screed automation technology, which promises precise joint matching.

On the aggregate side, Astec will present a range of crushing equipment, including the all-new 6203 horizontal screen, which has a novel approach to screen cloth blinding reduction to improve performance and reduce operating costs. Also on display will be the Kodiak K300 cone crusher, Pioneer 2650 jaw crusher, and the Titan cone crusher.

Asphalt processing systems focused on sustainability that will be present include the IntelliPac Moisture System, which provides operators with real-time insights into aggregate moisture and allows precise adjustments. The ReMix cold central plant recycling system offers a sustainable solution for efficiently using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) stockpiles.
