The 10-ton DD105 sets the tone for compaction innovation, built upon an all-new, visibility-enhancing pedestal frame backed by a lifetime warranty, and available with the latest options to boost job quality, including eight-amplitude settings and Volvo Intelligent Compaction with Density Direct.
The new the AP300F (wheel-type) and AP355F (rubber track-type) models, additions to the Cat range of asphalt pavers, are designed specifically for efficient production in mid-sized applications, including parking lots, urban streets, cycling and walking paths, trenches, and narrow shoulders. Equipped with new electrically heated SE34 Series screeds, available in vibration-only and vibration/tamper-bar configurations, the AP300F and AP355F are designed with advanced technical features, such as an engine Eco-Mode, auto-fill feeder system, single-touch feeder system activation, and automated travel mode.
The six base models that make up the BOMAG “Dash 5” Series of tandem vibratory rollers are the most advanced and versatile compactor series ever built by BOMAG. Offering design enhancements over previous series, these rollers increase productivity, improve mat quality and reduce service time. Tackling a range of commercial and mainline applications from parking lots and asphalt repair to interstates and airports, this series of rollers offers rolling widths ranging from 59.1 inches (1,500 mm) to 84.1 inches (2,135 mm) to efficiently compact a wide range of paving widths.
Properly paving and compacting the longitudinal joint has plagued the asphalt industry for decades. If not constructed and compacted properly, it is a weak point in the new road – the first failure point.
Building on decades of success in the agriculture market, Harper Industries has introduced the DewEze 1000 Series Flatbed exclusively for the NTEA work truck market. This latest rendition boasts an innovative design with a superior strength-to-weight ratio, as well as the proven durability of DewEze Clutch Pump Kits.
While the newly designed MT 3000-2i material transfer vehicle is new to this continent, it is a product that has been developed and used in Europe for decades. For North America, the design has been changed to include swinging conveyors and continuous rubber tracks instead of steel tracks. It weighs 56,000 pounds and has a storage capacity of 18 tons. It can move 1,300 tons per hour, and active remixing is achieved by two 16-inch-diameter conical augers in the receiving hopper. Both primary and secondary conveyor belts are heated to keep material from sticking, and eliminate “warm up” loads. The secondary conveyor can swing 55 degrees to left or right. Heated scrapers also keep the belts constantly clean with a minimum of fuss.
The CP75 is built with heavy-duty components, especially in areas prone to high wear, and is designed to be rebuildable with fully replaceable components, such as floor plates.
Compaction issues can be caused by a range of factors. Poor drum system maintenance, lack of planning, incorrect equipment selection and inadequate operator training are just some of the factors that can cause problems during the compaction process. Some mixes are more difficult to lay down and compact than others and in those cases experimentation on the job may be the only solution when a mix is being used for the first time.
HAMM has a host of innovations to show at Bauma 2016: the DV+ series pivot-steered tandem rollers are the highlight for asphalt paving construction. They utilize the new Easy Drive operating concept that will be presented in detail at Bauma. The HD+ series tandem rollers and H series compactors will also be equipped with Easy Drive in the future. For the earthmoving sector, Hamm is presenting the ultra-small H 5i and H 7i compactors. The extensive package of innovations is rounded off with the 3000 series – these classic earthmoving machines have been updated in some areas to meet the specific requirements of the Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. In the rubber-wheeled rollers segment, the newcomer is the GRW 180i with a maximum weight of 18 t. Hamm will also feature innovations for the measurement and documentation technology area. WITOS HCQ will allow data to be transferred directly from and to rollers in real time.
With the tracked SUPER 2000-3(i) and the wheeled SUPER 2003-3(i) pavers VÖGELE has developed two entirely new machines for the North American and Australian markets. They are designed primarily for use in highway construction and large-scale commercial applications, which are all about power and productivity. Both pavers come with the latest version of the VÖGELE operating system, the popular ErgoPlus 3, which has been enhanced with a number of new ergonomic and functional features. With its new 10-foot Highway Class pavers, VÖGELE also offers the right screed for every application. The SUPER 2000-3(i) and the SUPER 2003-3(i) can be combined with the VF 600, a screed with front-mounted extensions, as well as the VR 600 and AB 600, two screeds with rear-mounted extensions. The AB 600 Extending Screed is equipped with both a vibration system and tamper, meaning it can achieve higher compaction. It is ideal for placing recycled materials or RCC applications.
At bauma 2016, HAMM’s latest tandem rollers in the DV+ series are setting new trends in the premium asphalt compaction class: the pivot-steered rollers. All of the 6 models with weights between 7 t and 9 t are highly productive, meeting every single requirement to achieve the highest possible compaction quality and winning over drivers with outstanding visibility plus the new, easy-to-learn Easy Drive operating concept.

The flexible Terex Bid-Well 2418 workbridge allows finishers to complete work on a wide range of concrete paving applications including bridges, roads, canals, side slopes, dams, airports and slabs. Capable of being installed to either or both sides of the machine, telescoping end segments offer up to 10 feet (3.0 m) of leg travel – from 15 feet (4.6 m) retracted to 25 feet (7.6 m) extended – so the machine’s width quickly adapts to project paving widths and provides on-the-fly paving width adjustments.
The versatile Terex Bid-Well 3600 automatic roller paver boasts new, more powerful fuel-injected gas engines that deliver reliable operation in the field. The 21-hp (15.6 kW) Kohler ECH650 engines powering the machine and paving carriage save up to 25 percent in fuel compared to similar-size carbureted engines and offer less downtime and maintenance over the life of the engine. The engine’s advanced oxygen sensor automatically analyzes the exhaust’s air/fuel mixture to deliver more reliable operation at altitude. Offering advanced diagnostic capabilities, technicians can quickly troubleshoot engine issues with the aid of a computer.
