Mining engineering students from the University of Toronto spent a day in January at Haver & Boecker Canada’s facility learning firsthand about different aspects of vibrating screens and screening.

Haver & Boecker, a leading provider of mineral processing systems, opens its doors to future mining engineers. In January, the company gave 27 University of Toronto mining engineering students a firsthand look at the industry. Haver & Boecker engineers presented on various aspects of vibrating screens and the screening process before giving the students a tour of the plant to reinforce what they are learning in class. The company plans to continue the program and offer it to other higher education institutions.

The Toro Company has announced that its board of directors has elected Richard M. Olson to the position of president and chief executive officer, effective November 1, 2016. Olson, a 30-year veteran of the company, has served as Toro’s president and chief operating officer since September 2015 and was elected to the company’s board of directors in January of this year. Toro’s current chairman and chief executive officer, Michael J. Hoffman, will continue to serve as chairman of the board.

Power management company Eaton has increased the warranty coverage for two of the company’s most popular heavy-duty manual transmissions. New truck customers who specify either an Eaton RTLO 13-speed or 18-speed transmission, a Solo Advantage clutch and Eaton-approved lubrication will now receive a 7-year/750,000-mile warranty on the transmission and 5-year/500,000-mile warranty on the clutch.
