Serious Labs developing VR training modules for IPAF PAL+ Advanced Operator Certification

At the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) INNOVATE event in Chicago , Edmonton-based Serious Labs, a leader in virtual reality (VR) solutions for training and operations of heavy equipment such as cranes and aerial boom lifts, announced it is working in conjunction with IPAF to develop PAL+ VR training modules. PAL+ training, which can be completed for the first time on a VR simulator, tests existing Powered Access Licensed-Registration (PAL) Card holders at a more advanced level than required for the PAL Card operator license. Completion of the course will also renew a PAL Card holder's license for another five years. IPAF's PAL Cards are recognized worldwide as proof of the highest standard in Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) operator training.

John Deere Construction & Forestry builds new Illinois training facility

John Deere recently completed the construction of a 7,500 square foot facility in Coal Valley, Illinois to better meet internal training demands, along with supporting customer visits and events. The building is part of the Construction & Forestry Training Campus and includes three classrooms that can be used separately for training purposes, or combined to hold over 250 people for larger events. In addition, there is nearly 4,000 square feet of covered canopy space for outdoor training and equipment walkarounds.

LBX opens Customer Experience Center in Lexington, Kentucky

LBX held a Grand Opening for its new Customer Experience Center on June 13. The new facility is located on 25 acres in the Citation Business Park on Remington Way in Lexington, Kentucky. Company officials have said the operation will accommodate customer experience programs, including dealer training, product demonstrations and community events. The location is the company's second in Lexington, joining its headquarters and distribution centre.

Tech school receives “Gold Rush” haul truck from Volvo CE

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has donated an articulated haul truck to train future equipment operators at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania. The Volvo A35D hauler had been used on Discovery Channel's "Gold Rush" television series and will now serve as a training tool for high school students enrolled in the institute's Heavy Equipment Operations and Preventive Maintenance program.

Serious Labs provides VR simulation for United Rentals training centres

Serious Labs Inc. has extended its partnership with equipment rental leader United Rentals, Inc. Virtual reality (VR) simulation developed by Serious Labs is being deployed by United Rentals as part of its blended learning model for mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) operator certification courses. This model – new to the equipment rental industry – debuted on November 28 when United Rentals opened its first United Academy training centre with VR simulation in Alberta.

Aquajet Systems introduces specialized training academy to North America

Crane, loader, excavator and other simulations to be displayed at CONEXPO

At CONEXPO 2017 (Las Vegas, March 7–11, booth G72413 in the Gold Hall), CM Labs Simulations will showcase its immersive Vortex Advantage simulator, running tower crane, mobile crane, overhead crane, boom truck, wheel loader, backhoe loader, and excavator operator training modules. CM Labs will also launch their new professional-grade entry-level training simulator.

Case and Sonsray Machinery assist Team Rubicon during National Day of Service

CASE Construction Equipment and Sonsray Machinery provided equipment and product training support for a Team Rubicon operation and land-clearing project at the “Family Camp at Yosemite,” run by the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department, in Groveland, California. Several days of equipment training throughout the week culminated in the Team Rubicon & Tough Mudder National Day of Service – a nationwide event bringing together volunteers from Team Rubicon, Tough Mudder and other organizations. A total of 60 volunteers from Team Rubicon participated in the event, 10 of which are new operators participating in the heavy equipment training program.

Vermeer Corporation and DMACC partner to train and certify in-demand HDD operators

Vermeer has created a partnership with the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) — Iowa’s largest two-year college serving more than 75,000 students — to certify the Vermeer HDD Circuit training program. Individuals who complete the two-week, instructor-led program will be classified as a certified horizontal directional drill (HDD) operator.

Back to school applies to roadbuilding veterans, too
