Caterpillar introduces the 990K Aggregate Handler, designed to handle greater payloads in aggregates yard applications. With as much as a 25 percent payload increase, as compared to the standard 990K Wheel Loader, the new Aggregate Handler enables customers to load trucks and railcars faster and to move more material in load-and-carry and stockpile handling tasks.

GOMACO appoints Aggregate Equipment as new distributor for the Atlantic provinces

GOMACO Corporation has appointed Aggregate Equipment as the authorized GOMACO distributor for the Atlantic provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. They will provide sales and service for GOMACO's full line of concrete construction products. The appointment was made by Kent Godbersen, vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, GOMACO Corporation. Travis Brockman is GOMACO's district manager for the province.

F-Class portable plant from Haver & Boecker includes new technologies

Haver & Boecker has launched the Tyler F-Class portable plant that includes several new technologies to improve setup time and extend equipment longevity in quarry and mining operations. The portable plant features a new custom-built chassis equipped with six hydraulic run-on jacks that quickly level the plant, eliminating the need for cribbing. The run-on jacks also ensure the chassis stays level during operation, which minimizes equipment wear. 

Astec Mobile Screens to offer multi-frequency technology for all their 5-foot-wide, two-deck screens

Multi-frequency technology from Astec Mobile Screens was launched in March 2017 for the GT205 plant. The multi-frequency technology combines a conventional, two-bearing vibrator, traditionally used on an incline screen, with a high-frequency vibrator on the bottom deck. The combination of the two systems creates a screen that operates with a higher G-force. The increased screening energy also enables the multi-frequency screen to process material with higher moisture content.

Superior names new Canadian sales team member

Superior Industries Inc., a U.S. based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, recently added Phil Garinger to its sales team in Canada. Garinger, who comes to Superior from ELRUS Aggregate Systems, is the manufacturer's new equipment territory sales manager in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Additionally, he will support the manufacturer's conveying and washing dealers in Alberta and British Columbia.

New Rockster wind sifter RVB1700 designed to "blow away" impurities

Austria-based company Rockster Recycler GmbH has developed a wind sifter for their mobile crushers. With relatively little effort, final products produced can be significantly increased in value. Partially unavoidable contamination in crushed materials are simply "blown away." The wind sifter RVB1700 separates non-mineral components, including paper, wood or  foils, from crushed material. This results in a cleaner and higher quality final product, whereby non-mineral substances are separated from mineral substances.

From the time that Captain James Cook landed in British Columbia's Nootka Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island in 1778, the area has been a magnet for various types of commerce. In 1789, the Spanish established a naval post here, called Santa Cruz de Nuca, and it very quickly became an important focal point for the Spanish, English and American maritime fur trade. Following the decline of this resource, fishing and forestry, along with a smattering of mines, became the main industries in this remote, mountainous area, the traditional territory of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht (Nuu-chah-nulth) First Nations people.

Testing of Volvo CE electric and autonomous machines begins at world’s first "emission-free" quarry

On the August 29, Volvo Construction Equipment and its customer Skanska began testing the viability of its Electric Site concept at Skanska's Vikan Kross quarry, near Gothenburg, Sweden. The system, which incorporates electric and autonomous Volvo machines, will run in a real production environment for 10 weeks – delivering an anticipated 95 percent reduction in carbon emissions and 25 percent reduction in total cost of operations.

The company has recently exercised the option to move its sand washing plant to a new site at Resolve Aggregates in Ravenna, Texas, once its production objectives were attained at its initial Fort Worth site after 16 months.
