Set-forward and set-back front axle configurations

The Peterbilt 367 can be equipped to take on a full range of rugged vocational applications, and is offered in both set-forward and set-back front-axle configurations. Through its 123-inch BBC, dual front axle positions and tag and pusher axle options, it can be configured to comply with various bridge law requirements.

Engines range from 280 to 600 hp and with torque from 1,150 lb-ft to 1,850 lb-ft. Manual, automated and automatic transmissions are available, as well as numerous heavy-duty axle and suspension options. Axle configurations are 4x2, 4x4, 6x4 and 6x6, and factory-installed liftable pusher and tag axles are available.

International Truck to Introduce New Line of Premium Vocational Trucks as Navistar, Caterpillar Conclude Agreement

Navistar, Inc. has announced that it will launch a new line of premium vocational trucks for the severe service segment beginning in early 2016, leveraging shared technology and intellectual property from its venture with Caterpillar. In addition, the company will transition to Caterpillar the production and engineering of the Cat-branded severe service trucks. The company has been supplying to Caterpillar since 2011. Navistar will continue to manufacture trucks for Caterpillar through December 31, 2016.

While specific terms of the transition will not be disclosed, both companies will have the opportunity to leverage certain joint intellectual property, collaborate with suppliers and utilize licensing agreements moving forward.

JCB Rolls Out Master Technician Program to North American Dealerships

JCB has recently introduced the ‘Master Technician’ program to all dealerships in the North American network. The Master Technician program is designed to continue to build the skills of JCB Service Technicians and recognize technicians that are at the top of their class.

To be considered for the program, service personnel must be nominated by their dealership and pass an entry exam. Once those qualifications have been met, participants must pass a series of training programs and hands-on skill challenges at 100%, as well as all distance learning classes, JCB systems efficiency testing, Core Product Component Testing and other service-based tests to earn the designation of Master Technician.

Caterpillar Inc. will begin independently designing and manufacturing its vocational truck product family at its plant in Victoria, Texas. The plant, which opened in 2012, currently produces hydraulic excavators.

“The on-highway vocational truck product family is important to our product line; customers like our trucks and want to include them in their fleets in a variety of heavy-duty applications such as dump trucks, mixers, haulers or one of the other configurations we offer,” said Chris Chadwick, Caterpillar’s director of the Global On-Highway Truck Group. “To continue to provide the best solution for our customers, we will bring the design and manufacturing of this product into Caterpillar, and the production specifically to Victoria. Our updated strategy reaffirms our commitment to grow and develop our presence in the vocational truck industry moving forward.”

Kenworth Quebec recently celebrated the debut of its new 17,000-square-foot, full-service facility in a Saint-Georges industrial park 4 kilometres north of the intersection of Quebec Routes 173 and 204. The grand opening of this new location called Kenworth Beauce attracted more than 150 customers, suppliers and business people from local area companies plus dignitaries, including the mayor Claude Morin of Saint-Georges and other elected officials.
