multiVIEW opens Kitchener office to expand service coverage across Southern Ontario

multiVIEW Locates Inc. a professional services firm that specializes in locating and mapping buried infrastructure has announced the opening of its’ fourth office location in Kitchener, Ontario.  The new location will allow multiVIEW to quickly deploy to deliver private and public utility locating services across the city and surrounding area, bridging the gap between the company’s existing Mississauga and London-based offices.

Active throughout the province of Ontario for almost 30 years, multiVIEW has completed thousands of subsurface investigations for clients that include engineering firms, large utilities and government agencies.  Opening the fourth, strategically placed office will further strengthen the company’s ability to fulfill fast, flexible response times throughout Southern Ontario.

“A key area of focus for our company is the ability to mobilize field crews quickly and to have a Field Supervisor available 24/7,” said Kevin Vine, President, multiVIEW. “This is especially critical in emergency situations as Ontario One Call (ON1Call) requires emergencies to be responded to within a 1-2 hour time frame. With a base to dispatch crews and equipment from Kitchener-Waterloo, we’ll be able to further bolster our customer service across a large geographic area in Southern Ontario.”

multiVIEW’s Kitchener-based Field Technicians will be fully equipped to locate assets in both the public Right of Way (ROW) and on private property. In addition to utility locating, this will include systems for sewer video inspections and concrete scanning. The new office location will also support growing activity in surrounding areas including The Municipality of Haldimand and Norfolk County.

“Across Ontario we are noticing a significant uptick in demand for utility locating services,” said Kevin. “Owners of buried infrastructure are required to register with ON1Call and contractors must arrange for utility locating prior to excavation.  Call before you dig is no longer an optional safety precaution but a mandatory pre-excavation requirement, and the penalties for non-compliance are steep. The good news is that contractors are clearly getting the message – we’ve seen a marked drop in utility damages caused by insufficient locating and excavation practices over the last ten years.”

To spread awareness of safe excavation practices and more actively participate in the Kitchener-Waterloo construction and development industry, multiVIEW recently joined the Grand Valley Construction (GVC) Association, an organization that’s been offering services and resources to companies that buy, bid or service the construction industry throughout Southern Ontario since 1974.
