Liebherr R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator designed for use in restricted construction sites or inner city areas

The new Liebherr R920 Compact swing crawler excavator, which was showcased for the first time at Bauma 2016, is now available worldwide. The compact swing model has been designed specifically for use in restricted construction sites or in inner city areas.

The new Liebherr R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator, with an operating weight between 41,890 and 46,300 pounds, is powered by a 148-hp/110-kW engine and complies with the requirements of exhaust emissions Tier 4 Final / Stage IV. It has a SCR system with urea injection and oxidation catalyst. Particulate filters are available as an option.

The R 920 Compact swing from Liebherr combines the properties of a standard crawler excavator, such as high performance and versatility, with the advantages of a compact swing machine. With a short tail swing of only 6 feet 1 inches, it can be used effectively on construction sites where space is limited. The dimensions of the R 920 Compact swing ensure unrestricted movement around the jobsite and simple transport from one site to another.

Diverse equipment options, simple maintenance

The undercarriage, based on the Liebherr X design, improves the performance and extends the service life of the machine. The particularly reliable and robust travel mechanism is very easy to maintain and the integrated eyelets make it easy to secure and transport. The customer can choose from four undercarriage combinations with a bulldozer blade also available. Rubber track pads are also available as an option for urban operation sites. With this variety of equipment, the R 920 Compact swing covers a broad range of applications and meets a variety of specific customer requirements.

The new R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator has easy-to-access maintenance points with an innovative maintenance concept. For example, engine oil levels can be comfortably read from the ground. The standard central lubrication system also increases the service life of the components and the safety of the operator, who does not have to leave the cab for lubrication tasks, reducing the daily maintenance effort and ensuring optimal machine availability and high productivity.

Comfort and safety

The cab of the new Liebherr R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator gives the operator an ergonomic and spacious work area. The standard air-suspension operator’s seat, automatic air-conditioning and the high-resolution 7-inch colour touchscreen offer maximum comfort. The fully retractable windshield and the rear-view camera, integrated in the counterweight, ensure optimal visibility of the entire working area. An optional lateral camera can be installed for enhanced safety. The ROPS-certified cab structure protects the operator in the event of an accident and assures maximum safety. An emergency exit above the rear window is available for every excavator configuration.
