Having held senior management positions in Volvo Financial Services and the Volvo Group’s North American commercial truck operations, Stephen Roy has been appointed President, Sales Region Americas at Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE). In his new role, which he assumes on September 1st, Stephen will be responsible for meeting the diverse needs of customers in North America and Latin America, strengthening Volvo CE’s market position in the region and boosting profitability.

As reported in April, the position has become available following long-time Americas President Goran Lindgren’s decision to retire from his current role and move to another position within Volvo CE. Goran will remain in post as President, Sales Region Americas, until September 1st, and work with Stephen to ensure a smooth handover.

Stephen has held a variety of senior management positions in the Volvo Group’s North American commercial truck operations, including President of Mack Trucks, where he helped drive profitability and increase market share in core segments. He has also – while Senior Vice President of Aftermarket and Soft Products – been in charge of field services and led the development of technology and processes that optimize customer uptime. Stephen joined the Volvo Group as Vice President of Business Development at Volvo Financial Services in 1996, following sales positions at Cargill Leasing Corp. and Navistar.

In his new role, Stephen will report to Tomas Kuta, global Senior Vice President, Sales, and be based at the company’s sales and production facility in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Commenting on the appointment Tomas Kuta said: “With his background in sales, customer support and equipment financing Stephen brings with him an almost unique understanding of the challenges our customers face in the Americas. I have every confidence that he will continue the good work of his predecessor Goran Lindgren, whom I thank for his tremendous efforts, in growing our market share through meeting the needs of our customers.”

Stephen has a MBA degree from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science & Arts degree in Agricultural Mechanization Technology from the University of Georgia.
