The new Link-Belt HTT-86110, base rated at 100-mt (110-tons), will debut at Bauma 2016, in Munich, Germany. The HTT-86110 telescopic truck terrain crane features simple, all-wheel steer capability for optimum crane maneuverability in congested spaces. Steerable rear axles with super single tires are what make the HTT-86110 so agile and with four steering modes – independent front, independent rear, combination and diagonal, this crane can move in and around jobsites with ease. The HTT-86110’s turning radius is less than 8.3 m (27.25 feet) from the centreline of the tire; according to the company, this is comparable or better than similar 4-axle all-terrain cranes.

Performance

A Tier 3/Euro Stage IIIA Cummins 359 kW (480-hp) engine is available on the HTT-86110. For the North American market, a clean idle certified Cummins 336 kW (450-hp) engine is also available; both the international and North American market versions of the HTT-86110 come with 1,550 ft.-pounds of torque. For both market specific models, both the carrier and upper engines couple to a ZF AS-tronic automated transmission with 12 speeds forward and two reverse. The controls for this transmission are similar to an automatic (no clutch pedal) and yet have the performance of a manual with automated pump dis-engagement for on-highway travel and jobsite maneuver modes.

The winch package delivers a maximum line pull of 92.25 kN (20,739 pounds) and can provide over 71.17 kN (16,000 pounds) of line pull up to the 4th layer, ideal for 19 mm (3/4 inches) wire ropes that are line pull rated at 69.83 kN (15,700 pounds) and higher. The maximum line speed on the winch is 150.9 m/min (495 feet/min).

Boom and attachments

The HTT-86110 features a 50-m (164-foot) main boom that outreaches truck crane competition and challenges European-built all-terrain cranes in its tonnage class. The main boom tip height is 52.6 m (172.6 feet). The telescoping sections of the 6-section pin and latch boom ride on Link-Belt’s proven Teflon impregnated wear pads, which means there’s no need to grease the bottom of this boom. Plus, all the sheaves and both pins of the hoist cylinder feature sealed bearings as well.

Available is a 17.6-m (58-foot) on-board fly that features four offset positions of 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees, and an innovative approach for erecting and stowing, focused heavily on minimizing the number of times a ladder is needed. The fly also features an integrated 3-m (10-foot) fly that reeves up to four parts of line and is capable of 21.7-mt (24-ton) lifts. The 3-m (10-foot) fly is ideal for applications where two load lines are necessary for lifting one load. Two additional 4.9-m (16-foot) lattice boom extensions bring the maximum tip height to 79.7 m (261.6 feet).

Comfort and convenience

A tilting operator’s cab adjusts from 0 to 20 degrees and a pull-out “Cabwalk” provides easy entry into the cab for the operator. Once inside, the operator is treated to a five-way adjustable seat that holds light, yet responsive electronic controllers. The controllers are available in either a dual or single axis configuration and have a fine metering feature for precise operation. There is a designated foot pedal for boom telescope operation, something not found in other cranes in this size class. Also, the swing control allows the operator to free swing and utilize a foot pedal for smooth braking. Aiding the operator is the Link-Belt Pulse system with telematics, and cameras that automatically let you view winch operation and swing. Extra touches are heating, air-conditioning, and AM/FM radio with Bluetooth.

The driver’s cab features comprehensive gauges, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a place to store documents. Its fibreglass construction is Link-Belt proven and the interior is acoustically insulated. Cameras automatically let you view backing up and when making a right turn. Heating and air conditioning, AM/FM radio, cruise control, intermittent wiper with washer, and engine compression brake all comes as standard equipment.

A work lighting package is available. Also available are single and dual boom floodlights, and remote control boom floodlights that work in conjunction with other floodlights options.

Transportation

The front and rear axle groups of the HTT-86110 have a combined transport capacity of 44.6-mt (98,450 pounds) at highways speeds in excess of 96.5 km/h (60mph) – a fully equipped crane with 1.8-mt (4,000 pounds) of the standard 7.2-mt (16,000 pounds) counterweight can be onboard and still be under the transport capacity. An additional 20.2-mt (44,600 pounds) of counterweight is offered bringing the maximum counterweight to 22-mt (48,600 pounds). With no counterweight, the HTT-86110 can travel under 11.0-mt (24,250.9 pounds) per axle.
