Wacker Neuson will be introducing its largest excavator to the market in early 2016. The 14-ton, ET145 takes Wacker Neuson’s “compact” excavators to a new weight class. The ET145 features Wacker Neuson’s most up-to-date innovations for comfortable and intuitive operation in a larger package to tackle even bigger jobs.

The ET145 is extremely powerful and productive, but designed like a compact excavator. Rubber or hybrid tracks allow the machine to access finished surfaces without leaving marks. Steel tracks are available and are the best choice for demolition applications. A full size, heavy-duty dozer blade helps with backfilling and grading jobs while adding additional stability. The 127-degree boom swing allows operators to dig along walls and trenches, work around pipes and even dig along traffic lanes.

The ET145 is powered by a 75-hp Tier 4 Final Perkins turbo-charged diesel engine. The optimized powertrain utilizes a constant power concept in which the engine produces more torque as engine load increases and the engine speed decreases. The result is that the engine horsepower available to the hydraulic system remains constant, significantly improving machine performance while utilizing a smaller engine and significantly less fuel.

The ET145 is the ideal machine for contractors who are looking for a machine that combines the productivity of a larger crawler excavator with the versatility and accessibility of a compact excavator. Typical applications are heavy utility work in confined spaces, public works applications in urban areas and residential construction with limited space. The machine produces a breakout force of 20,500 pounds and has a digging depth of up to 18 feet.

Larger jobs often mean longer hours of operation. The ET145 has operators covered when it comes to comfort. The spacious cab has plenty of leg room and provides an excellent view of the work site. To further enhance the view, the boom has been shifted to the right, so operators can easily see the attachment and beyond. The 3.5-inch display with machine interface and climate control unit (heat and air conditioning are standard), are also within eyesight. All the controls are easy to reach including the jog-dial for controlling central operations.
