Hitachi Updates ZX670LC-6 and ZX870LC-6 Excavators with DPF-free Tier 4 Final Engine

Hitachi Construction Machinery – Americas has introduced the newest additions to its Dash-6 lineup – the ZX670LC-6 and the ZX870LC-6. The two new excavators are powered by EPA Tier 4 Final (T4F)/EU Stage IV Isuzu engines that feature the latest engine technologies and do not require a diesel particulate filter.

“We took solid, productive workhorses in the Dash-5 versions of these machines and made them even more efficient, reliable and durable with key upgrades,” said Mark Wall, product marketing manager for Hitachi Construction Machinery – Americas. “The ZX670LC-6 and ZX870LC-6 deliver the quiet, powerful performance that Hitachi is known for with the added bonus of cleaner operations.”

New engine technology

The two upgraded excavators feature a new, fuel-efficient T4F Isuzu engine that is simple and efficient. The ZX670LC-6 offers 463 hp while the ZX870LC-6 boasts 512 hp.

The T4F field-proven technology employs cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). An improved piston design allows particulate matter to be burned in cylinder, so there’s no need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

In addition, fuel and DEF consumption is equal or reduced compared to the ZX670LC-5 or ZX870LC-5 (Tier 4 Interim/EU Stage IIIB) consumption.

Simplified maintenance

Maintenance on these models has been simplified with features such as a battery disconnect switch, spin-on fuel filters and two additional water separators to maintain long fuel filter life. Engine and hydraulic oil sample ports allow for quick and convenient, proactive maintenance checks, which keeps you running longer.

The two new excavators also feature an expansion tank in the cooling system that enhances air pursing, provides make-up fluid when needed and improves overall cooling efficiency. This helps the engine perform at peak performance.

In addition, an improved step position on the track frame and walkways on the upperstructure let the operator or technician easily move around the machine while effortlessly maintaining the appropriate points of contact to the machine.

Other features of these models include:

  • Generous swing torque, digging force and lift capacity
  • Spacious cabs designed for operator comfort and productivity
  • Standard upperstructure handrails for added safety and accessibility
  • Easy-to-operate controls for smooth and responsive hydraulics
  • Highly efficient cooling systems

  • The ZX670LC-6 and ZX870LC-6 come standard equipped with five years of ZXLink. ZXLink gives operators the power to monitor their fleet without ever leaving their seats. The system provides access to fleet location, functions, hours, fuel consumption, alerts and other essential machine data.
