Six new compaction roller models from Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas offer a combination of excellent maneuverability, productivity, enhanced operator comfort and easy maintenance. The Hyundai Series 9 compaction rollers product line includes four single-drum models designed primarily for soil and aggregate compaction, and two compact tandem-drum models designed primarily for asphalt paving and maintenance. All six models offer 360-degree visibility for the operator.

“The Hyundai Series 9 compaction roller models combine the most up-to-date compaction technologies with quiet, fuel-efficient engines, a safe and comfortable operator environment and easily accessible maintenance points for outstanding overall performance and value,” said Corey Rogers, Marketing Manager, Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas. “We believe this product lineup positions Hyundai to compete successfully in several of the compaction market’s highest volume machine classes.”

The four Hyundai Series 9 single drum compaction roller models feature highly fuel-efficient and reliable engines throughout the lineup including a Perkins engine for the HR70C-9, and Deutz engines on models HR110C-9, HR120C-9 and HR140C-9.

Single-drum models for soil compaction

The single-drum models are designed primarily for soil compaction applications. The compaction drum is available as a smooth or pad-foot surface. The optional pad-foot kit is designed for easy installation.

Hyundai’s unique HA control delivers a continuous tractive effort at the axle and drum for automatic adaptation to various soil types and conditions. Dual frequencies and amplitudes provide two levels of vibration for efficient surface and deep soil compaction.

The Hyundai Series 9 single-drum roller models range in horsepower from 84 to 140 (61.5 to 103 kW), in operating weight for smooth-drum configuration from 15,652 to 30,644 pounds (7 100 to 13 900 kg), in drum width from 67 to 83 inches (1,700 to 2,100 mm), and in gradeability without vibration from 45 to 50 degrees.

Compact tandem-drum models designed for paving

While the Hyundai HR25T-9 and HR30T-9 tandem-drum roller models are primarily designed for aggregate paving applications, contractors also may use these compact machines for soil compaction. Both models feature front and rear scrapers to keep the drums free of material build up. They also provide 55-gallon-capacity water-spray systems that can sprinkle both the pavement surface and the drums, with operator-adjustable sprinkling intervals. Each model offers the largest drum in its weight class for optimum compaction results.

Other standard equipment on both Hyundai tandem-drum roller models includes ROPS roll bar, hydrostatic drive, hydrostatic vibration system at both drums, automatic vibration mode (double/single vibration), spring-loaded brakes on both drums, manual emergency stop switch with touch sensitive switch at the seat, spring-mounted driver's compartment, four headlights, driver's seat with arm rests and safety belt, and lockable dashboard.

The HR25T-9 model has an operating weight of 5,400 pounds (2 450 kg) and drum width of 40 inches (1,016 mm). The HR30T-9 model has an operating weight of 6,600 pounds (2 994 kg) and drum width of 50 inches (1,270 mm). Both models achieve maximum gradeability without vibration of 35 degrees, and are powered by a Deutz D 2011 L2 I diesel engine rated at 30.2 hp (22.5 kW).

The two Hyundai Series 9 tandem-drum roller models, including the HR30T-9 shown here, feature front and rear scrapers to keep the drums free of material build up.
