Hitachi Upgrades to Tier 4 Final With New ZX470LC-6 Excavator

Hitachi Construction Machinery– Americas has announced the addition of an upgraded excavator to its new Dash-6 line.

The upgraded ZX470LC-6 is equipped with an EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV Isuzu engine that meets rigid emission standards. This bigger, more powerful machine gives operators the efficiency, reliability and durability needed when out on the jobsite. In addition, it does not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

“The updates made to this excavator are designed to help increase the efficiency, reliability and durability of the machine,” said Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager for Hitachi Construction Machinery – Americas. “In addition to the engine, new features include additional handrails, redesigned fuel filter canisters and an added coolant expansion tank, to name a few. This excavator makes a great addition to any fleet.”

Hitachi’s new Dash-6 lineup includes the ZX250LC-6, ZX300LC-6ZX350LC-6 and ZX380LC-6.

Efficiency

The ZX470LC-6 features numerous time- and money-saving advantages, such as convenient handrails that provide easy engine access and a battery disconnect switch. Additionally, grouped service points make quick work of the daily routine, and operators are able to work more efficiently with 500- and 4,000-hour engine and hydraulic oil service intervals. Swing-out coolers are easy to access and clean. Easy-to-check sight gauges and fluid reservoirs, quick-change remote-mounted filters and convenient fluid-sample ports minimize periodic maintenance downtime.

Reliability

Hitachi’s field-proven technology for the ZX470LC-6 is simple and efficient, employing cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is injected into the exhaust stream of the engine, runs through a catalyst, and turns the NOx in the exhaust into harmless water vapor and nitrogen gas. The EGR is specifically tuned to further reduce NOx (compared to EPA Tier 4 Interim/EU Stage IIIB engines) to meet new emission standards with minimal use of DEF. Additionally, an improved piston design allows particulate matter to be burned in cylinder, so there’s no need for a DPF.

Durability

D-channel side frames house and protect the highly efficient coolers and T4F engine. The boom, arm and mainframe are so tough, they’re warranted for three years or 10,000 hours, whichever comes first. With large idlers, rollers and strutted track links, the sealed and lubricated undercarriage is built for the long haul.

Productivity

With a heavier operating weight of 110,804 lbs. (compared to its predecessor at 108,952 lbs.) the ZX470LC-6 takes productivity to a higher level. The hydraulic boost system and enhanced boom recirculation generate aggressive boom and arm speed – returning the arm to dig faster. Plus, the pressurized fuel system improves fuel injector operation, and the fuel recirculation system helps prevent fuel gelling in cold climates.
