Volvo Penta of the Americas has partnered with Collicutt Energy Services, a Canada-based generator and pump manufacturer with distribution in Western North America, to power the company’s gensets — with a possibility for more applications to come.
A range of Volvo Penta engines will be installed in 125 kW to 600 kW Collicutt Energy gensets, most of which will likely power oil exploration and gas compression activities in Western Canada beginning this year. The units can be moved from site to site and will be available for rent. It is also likely that Collicutt Energy will begin using Volvo Penta engines in water pumping applications in the US.
A rock-solid partnership
Collicutt Energy Services has a need for Tier 4 Final-compliant engines, as the US EPA requires utility equipment used in North America to comply with Tier 4 Final regulations. Therefore, it’s likely that Collicutt Energy Services will use Volvo Penta off-road engines that have been adapted by Blue Star Power Systems to run at a fixed rate of 1,800 rpm for powergen applications, as well as Volvo Penta’s new 16-liter Tier 4 Final-compliant genset engine.
While this is a new partnership for the two companies, several members of senior management at Collicutt Energy had worked with Volvo Penta in previous roles at other manufacturers.
