The John Deere 750K and 850K Crawler Dozers not only meet Final Tier 4 emissions standards, but also incorporate value-enhancing features such as EcoMode and an updated Electro-Hydraulic (EH) control system. The K-Series crawlers provide contractors a Final Tier 4 product that affords higher productivity, increased uptime and lower daily operating costs in earth moving, waste, and grading applications.

"The new 750K and 850K crawlers are built on the success of their iT4 predecessors," said Mark Oliver, crawler dozers product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “While making updates to the engine, we also added some new features customers will appreciate. The electro-hydraulic system has been updated and the control logic of that system is brand new from John Deere. When the optional EH system is ordered, customer driven features such as blade shake for PAT (Power-Angle-Tilt) configurations, improved blade response and rear auxiliary configurable settings will help customers become more productive. EH controls are now available for OSD (Outside Dozer) configurations which also enable the new optional Power Pitch feature.”

The 750K and 850K incorporate a PowerTech 6.8-L Final Tier 4 diesel engine with 165 hp and 205 hp respectively. The 850K is the first John Deere dozer to feature EcoMode. EcoMode optimizes fuel economy while maintaining ground speed by automatically adjusting engine speed and transmission settings based on load. This new feature has the potential to save customers upwards of 20 percent in fuel with no loss in productivity in many applications.

Operators don’t have to worry about diesel particulate filter (DPF) cleaning as it still occurs automatically with no impact to machine operation. Extensive testing allowed John Deere’s DPF to go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal. Additionally, all models feature excellent total fluid economy (diesel fuel and DEF).

The new crawler models continue to utilize hydrostatic transmissions, a feature John Deere pioneered in crawler dozers in North America in 1976. Updates were made to the electronic control system for improved response and controllability, increasing productivity and enhancing the operator experience.

Machine hydraulics were updated for improved performance and responses as well as offering optional electro-hydraulic controls for both the Power-Angle-Tilt and Outside Dozer blade configurations. A high flow hydraulic pump is now available for both pilot controls and the updated electro-hydraulic system. The EH system is more responsive to operator inputs and the machine will significantly grade better when equipped with a grade control system.

Another new feature that comes along with the new electro-hydraulic control system is a new color LCD display monitor. This new monitor provides enhanced onboard diagnostics with real time values for every temperature, pressure, and speed sensor on the machine. The crawler dozers constantly monitor transmission temperature to avoid damage to the hydrostat system.

When the 750K and 850K are ordered with the new electro-hydraulic controls, they are grade control ready to accept the grade control system of the customer’s choice. John Deere’s “open-architecture” design lets customers easily employ their favorite brand of grade-control system – Trimble, Topcon, or Leica. For Topcon customers, both models can be factory-installed with a Topcon 3D-MC2 grade control system for faster availability and the ability to finance the system with the dozer purchaser.

To keep operators up and running, both the 750K and 850K come equipped with John Deere’s exclusive V-Cool package. This system incorporates a cool on demand hydraulically driven fan that isolates coolers from dust and engine heat for increased efficiency and durability. In addition, the V-Cool is positioned behind the heavy-duty grille and fan, making the coolers less vulnerable to the rigors of the jobsite. The coolers are also easily accessible for ground level service.
