Liebherr PR 724 Litronic dozer with new prefit machine control kit

At the 2011 CONEXPO, Liebherr is exhibiting its PR 724 Litronic dozer, with a service weight of 19,8 tonnes. A first-time innovation on the US market are the prefit kits to control machinery from all leading manufacturers. They contain all the necessary components for installation of laser or GPS control devices for the dozer, and are optimally matched to the basic machine. In this way, attaching control-system components calls for only a few operations, and no changes have to be made to either the hydraulics or the electrics of the dozer.

The PR 724 has an engine rated at 120 kW (161 hp) and, like all Liebherr dozers, has hydrostatic transmission and Litronic electronic travel control. The hydrostatic principle enables travel speeds to be controlled steplessly and fully automatically according to the tractive effort needed. Steering movements can be performed quickly and reliably. As on all fourth-generation Liebherr dozers, the turn function (with both tracks powered) is directly integrated into travel control lever movement and can be activated steplessly when needed. It applies right up to the point turns obtained when the joystick lever is moved to its fullest extent.

The compact hydraulic travel gear components contribute to the machine’s excellent weight distribution. Together with the extra-long crawler-track assemblies with their 812-mm 32” wide track pads, the PR 724 has exceptionally good fine grading performance. Operating companies will also appreciate its low specific fuel consumption.

Another advantage in day-to-day operation is the excellent view of the PR 724’s working equipment. The cab fitted to fourth-generation dozers, with its generous interior size, ample storage areas and ergonomically ideal travel-gear and equipment controls, provides the operator with ideal working conditions. The cabin includes a central positioned instrument cluster with an integrated display of all the principal machine functions, and an unobstructed view of the blade or other attached equipment. The internal panelling has been optimised for good noise absorption and, together with demand-controlled hydrostatic fan speed control and the extremely quiet diesel engine, reduces sound levels to values well below the legal limits.
