Volvo CE has officially inaugurated and unveiled its state-of-the-art test facility in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The new building is home to several test rigs that will test both electric and conventional drivelines and components. One of the test rigs – which allows all a machine’s wheels to be controlled and measured independently, enabling the entire electromobility driveline to be tested in a modular way – is thought to be the first of its kind in the industry.

Continental and Caterpillar Inc. have signed an agreement to equip Cat Off-Highway-Trucks (model series 770 to 775) with Continental RDT-Master tires in sizes 18.00R33, 21.00R33 and 24.00R35. The agreement also calls for the two companies to collaborate on designing new tires for two other Cat products: Medium Wheel Loaders and Articulated Dump Trucks.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) outlined a tiered series of emissions regulations for off-road engines in equipment in the mid-1990s. Mack Trucks has announced extended engine oil drain intervals for customers using its newly formulated genuine Mack Engine Oil EOS-4.5. Depending on the application, oil drain intervals have been extended by up to 15,000 miles compared with previous formulations, helping reduce customer maintenance costs. Introduced as the factory fill in Mack’s 2017 engines, genuine Mack Engine Oil EOS-4.5 also extends drain intervals for all 2011 and newer Mack engines.
